debit cards
are accepted – that’s
literally millions of retail locations through out the world.
The purchase amount will be deducted automatically from available
funds in your TobyFCU Share Draft (Checking)
Account, just as
if you had written a check.
- Use It Like An ATM Card...
Your Visa Check (Debit)Card also
works like an ATM card at any of the thousands of ATMs nationwide
that display the STAR or PLUS logo. You can use your card to
check your account balances, transfer funds between accounts,
make deposits and withdraw cash, all anytime day or night. Also
if you use any ATM that is part of the CU $ Network it is free
to use the VISA Debit Card. See

Understand your Check Card
A Visa
Check (Debit) Card isn’t meant to replace checks.
It’s
designed to be a check alternative for those occasions when writing
a check isn’t convenient or practical – for example,
when you’re in the express line at the grocery store, or
shopping online. Your Visa Check (Debit) Card isn’t a credit
card, either. You present it at the checkout counter like you would
a credit card, but purchases are never charged against a line of
credit – they are always deducted from available funds in
your Share Draft (Checking) Account. That means you pay no interest
charges, and there is no bill at the end of the month. Every purchase
you make will appear on your monthly Share Draft (Checking) Account
statement, just like the checks you write.
“Debit” Or “ Credit?”
When paying for
a purchase with your TobyFCU Visa Check (Debit) Card, you may be
asked to choose
between a “Credit” button
and a “Debit” button. Whichever button you choose,
the purchase amount will be deducted from available funds in
your TobyFCU Share Draft (Checking) Account. But we recommend
that you always press “Credit.” If you select “Debit”and
enter your Personal Identification Number (PIN), your purchase
will be processed like an ATM transaction. If you select the “Credit” button
and sign for the purchase, the transaction will be processed
through the Visa network. Transactions processed through the
Visa network are covered by Visa’s Zero Liability policy,
affording you maximum protection against fraud.
Fraud Alerts
We have a fraud center that is constantly monitoring your transactions to ensure that no fraudulent charges are charged to your account. If the fraud center detects what it believes to be fraudulent activity they will contact you via the phone number we have on record for you and ask if the purchase in question is valid or not.
An example of what this phone call/message will sound like is as follows:
This message is for (cardholder name). This is (operator name) calling on behalf of Tobyhanna Federal Credit Union. Risk Management is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and any of our representatives may assist you.
